Yerba mate (Paraguayan tea, Ilex paraguariensis) is a plant known for centuries as a cure for tiredness, anxiety and low mood. The infusion helps to solve digestive problems and to lose weight, regenerates and tones, stimulating your nervous system in the same time. And it does not have an addictive effect. It is grown in Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil. It is drunk by people of every age and profession. Its popularity dates back to many generations of travelers, who discovered it in Indian villages of South America. Nowadays, thanks to the globalization and the possibility to import goods from all over the world, we can enjoy it in Poland as well. But the mere consuming is just a start. The number of enthusiasts of the infusion itself, but the art of drinking yerba mate as well is steadily growing. The yerba mate drinking ritual consists in preparing the infusion in the special cups called maté and drinking it with a special straw with a strainer called bombilla. Every morning people all over the world, Poland included, pour a few teaspoons of yerba mate to the cup and sip the drink with a bombilla. The ritual and the aesthetic and sensual emotions (taste, smell and the effects of yerba mate) caused by it, make the Paraguayan tea a one-and-only product.

The vast popularity of application of mate cups and bombilla result in rising interest of collectors and enthusiasts collecting beautiful objects. Some cups and bombillas are made of precious metal alloys and richly incrusted. They become good sometimes sought at auction and antique shops.

However, many people benefit from a normal mate cups and bombillas and have a lot of joy and self-fullfilment.
